Duration: 35 minutes

The documentary takes place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and gives us an insight into the life of a 13 year old girl called Guljamal. In the daytime she spends most of her time taking care of her baby brother, instead of attending school, to help her family. Occasionally she hangs out with her girlfriends and they dream about love and better futures. Guljamal fancies a boy at the playground.
Her story is cross edited with life experiences of an older woman, who as a teenager was kidnapped and married against her will according to Kyrgyz tradition.

Love and Broken Glass was shown at more than 20 film festivals worldwide and won the Jury’s second prize at Documenta Madrid.
